Meet Terri & the Herd
My name is Terri Mongait and I am a Trauma Recovery Coach. I help trauma survivors who are frustrated at not being able to do what they used to do build confidence and tackle new challenges.
After sustaining my own TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) my horses played an instrumental role in my own recovery process. Working with Smarty (pictured), I was helped immensely with my eye-hand coordination and multi-tasking processing.
For everyone but me, Smarty stood perfectly still, but, every time I tried to cinch her saddle, she became a moving target. Her horse’s intuitive nature knew I needed help with eye-hand coordination and multitasking. After a period of time working with her my processing and coordination abilities improved and she did not test me as often.
After my injury I continued and completed my Equine Gestalt Coaching studies and became certified. Working with my horses, I help TBI survivors and their families identify, accept and overcome the obstacles on their road to recovery.
I now offer my clients the unique experience of learning from the wisdom and spirit of the horse to overcome the obstacles blocking their way to a rich and full life—post TBI event. I work with clients in individual sessions and with families. I am also available for support group events and speaking engagements. Call me to book a session, a group event or to discuss your speaking engagement needs.
Meet the Herd
This is Smokin' Smarty. She is the lead mare and keeps the boys in line. She is a wonderful co-facilitator. Smarty knows what the client needs before I do ~ then she lets me know what we need to do to support the client. She is intuitive, gentle when she needs to be, forceful when the client needs that aspect. During my rehablitation, she helped me work on my eye-hand coordination and mulit-tasking skills. She is a Rock Star!
Bodhi came with us from California and has blossomed now that he has his own herd and room to roam. He is a 19 year old gelding and loves supporting the clients. He know when to be pushy and when to be easy. It amazes me every time we work how intuitive my horses are and how much the enjoy being able to help humans on their road to recovery.
Marieh is a solid and steady Fresian horse. She is a joy to work with and loves helping our clients. She is becoming a wonderful chakra balancer and loves working with children.
Burrito is the newest (and smallest) herd member. He is a mini-burro and enjoys working with our clients that need to start small and work their way up. He loves being a member of our healing herd and enjoys sharing a stall with Uncle Bodhi.
